Curry Todd: Boat Launch Access

Curry Todd is among the supporters of a new legislation of the Wolf River Boat Launch Access Study, funded by the Shelby County Office of Sustainability, to increase the use and enjoyment of the Wolf River and provide opportunities to participate in outdoor recreation, improve safety in and around the River.

The Wolf River Conservancy was founded in the 1980s, after a citizen-led protest stilled a new gravel mine that was to be dug along the Wolf River. To safeguard the future safety of the habitat they created the conservancy, a 501(c) nonprofit, to preserve and protect the area.

Since first being found in 1985, the Wolf River Conservancy has grown in staff, resources, and overall mission. It now has successfully aided the preservation of 18,000 acres in the Wolf River area; and they are now protecting the Ghost River State Natural Area, which named after the disappearing effect the river has as it runs through marsh and swampland. 

Curry Todd is also proud of the Wolf River Conservancy especially for fulfilling the Wolf River Greenway Project in 2010, which is a corridor of protected green space. The group is looking to ass a paved pathway along the river that is meant or foot commuters rather than motorists; and have it stretch 30 miles. 

That part of the project is currently on hold for extended fundraising and land acquisitions that is much needed for the completion of the project. Todd now hopes to draw extra support for the group so that this project can be brought to fruition.

Curry Todd: Former Athlete

Curry Todd grew up as an athletic personality, and his abilities blossomed as he got older. He played on high school basketball team and named the Tennessee Player of the Year and was also recruited to the All-Memphis Basketball team for four years in a row. The Treadwell High School Eagles benefitted from having Curry on as one of their star players.

Due to his performances on the court, Curry Todd earned himself a place in the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame. Famous and notable figures from every single sport, all the way from basketball to track and field, are all given honorable admission into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame. There are only 500 inductees in the hall, which makes it an even more outstanding accomplishment for Curry. The hall was first established twenty years ago, after lawmakers in the state unanimously passed a bill named the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame Act of 1994. Four years after that achievement, Curry Todd was elected into the Tennessee House of Representatives.

The mission of the hall is to show consideration to sports as a model that reflects the ideals of an organized society. Good sportsmanship values endorse the aspects of healthy competition and fair play that drive people to be the best at what they do. There are also aspects of camaraderie, teamwork and unity that are universally applicable to the growth of modern societies. And as being a proud inductee of this hall, Curry Todd now stands to reserve those very values in government.

Curry Todd: Associations

Curry Todd is a seasoned and respected legislator (R) from Tennessee. He was first nominated to the State House of Representatives in 1998. He has been the recipient of many accolades during his years in office, including the 2011 Lawmaker of the Year by the Tennessee Professional Firefighters Association, the FedEx Forum Lawmaker of the Year award in 2009, and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Tennessee PTA in 2008.

 Since 1998, Curry Todd has working to preserve conservative values and the freedoms enacted by the United States of America as a constituent in the Tennessee House of Representatives.

Curry Todd: American Legislative Exchange Council

Curry Todd was first elected to the Tennessee State House of Representatives in 1998. He is a member of the Republican Party and has been a member of the Shelby County Conservative Republican Club, the East Shelby County Republican Club, Republican Women of Purpose, and the Shelby County Republican Women, among others.

Curry Todd is a member of the Board of Directors of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), a national association of legislators. He also has membership in the National Rifle Association and the Tennessee Wing Civil Air Patrol.

Tennessee State Representative Curry Todd – A Career

Curry Todd is a native of Tennessee, born in town of Juno.  Over the years, he has lived and served in Tennessee as a business owner, Memphis police officer, and state legislator.  Todd was a standout prep athlete and carried on his athletic career at the college level. 

 Curry Todd was once voted High School athlete of the year for his prowess and achievements in the sport of basketball.

Curry Todd: College Experience

Curry Todd is a native of the Volunteer State, where he was born in the town of Juno on December 31, 1947. Juno is a small town located almost exactly between Memphis and Nashville. By the time he was of high school age, Curry Todd had moved with his family to Memphis where he attended Treadwell High School and was a standout basketball player, good enough to receive scholarship offers from numerous colleges.

 

He settled on the University of Memphis, located in the Normal Station part of town. The University of Memphis was originally known as the West Tennessee Normal School. As Curry Todd knows, the term “normal school,” which is largely out of use today, was a name for institutions that trained high school graduates to become teachers.

Curry Todd: Member of the Hall

Curry Todd was an outstanding high school basketball player. The longtime member of the Tennessee House of Representatives played for the Treadwell High School Eagles basketball team in Memphis, where he was named to the All-Memphis Basketball team for four consecutive years and voted the Tennessee Player of the Year.

His on-court abilities have earned Curry Todd a place in the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame. The Tennessee Hall of Fame features notable sports figures from every sport, including basketball, football, baseball, soccer, golf, track and field, and even rafting. Members of the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame share a fairly elite honor: there are only about five hundred honorees and inductees in the hall, which was officially created twenty years ago when Tennessee lawmakers unanimously passed the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame Act of 1994, four years before Curry Todd was voted into office as a State Representative.

Republican Curry Todd is a Tennessee state legislator. He served in the state’s ninety-fifty district for many years and has displayed stiff conservative values. He is a constituent of the Shelby County Conservative Republican Club, the East Shelby County Republican Club, Republican Women of Purpose, and the Shelby County Republican Women, among many other affiliated groups.

Curry Todd : Tennessee Native

Curry Todd is a Tennessee native who was born, raised, educated and eventually formed a family of his own in The Volunteer State. He is proud of where he comes from, and he has devoted his life to improving the state that has provided him with a great life. He started off as an athletic personality who had a knack for the sport of basketball. This eventually led to him playing for his high school team. He became a star player for the Treadwell High School Eagles basketball team, and he was drafted to the All-Memphis team four years in a row and was also inducted into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame.

 

He then went on to attend college at what is known today as the University of Memphis. After completing his formal education he went into politics, leading up to a career that has gotten him to a seat in the Tennessee House of representatives, a position he has held since 1998. He is a strong Republican lawmaker who works to preserve state rights, the safeguarding of the Second Amendment and the continuance of other such conservative values.

Curry Todd - Republican legislator

Curry Todd is a Republican legislator hailing from Tennessee. He was raised and educated in the state, and now he is a constituent of the State House of Representatives who was first nominated in 1998. Curry Todd is proud to be from the Volunteer State, where on the very last day of 1947 he was born in the town of Juno.

Fir his higher education, Curry Todd attended the University of Memphis for his undergrad before beginning his career in law enforcement. He served as a police officer in Memphis, which is Tennessee’s largest city. Curry Todd: Wolf River Conservancy

Curry Todd , a former representative of the Tennessee House of Representatives, is also a big supporter of the Wolf River Conservancy.The Wolf River Conservancy was founded to preserve and make significant contributions to the Wolf River area, and that goal is still being pursued to this day. In autumn of 2014 Nathalie Prior, a Tennessee Girl Scout, had completed a butterfly habitat in the Wolf River Conservancy.

The butterfly habitat is located in two of the parking lot medians that run alongside the river. As a requirement for her Gold Star Girl Scout Project, and with the support of her family and many volunteers from the community, she planted the vegetation as a food source for adult and larval butterflies.Curry Todd praised her efforts, which are also supported by FedEx and supervised by the Wolf River Conservancy. Back in August of this year, the John F. Kennedy Park underwent a cleanup that involved volunteers spanned out across the many acres that line the Wolf River. The park contains bottomland hardwood forest and a nature trail.
A following cleanup occurred in the park on September 27^th in the same fashion as the August efforts.
Future plans for the John F. Kennedy Park include it becoming a gateway for the Wolf River Greenway trail into the Bartlett and Raleigh neighborhoods.Meanwhile, there are also plans for a Wolf River Boat Launch Access plan that will improve existing boat launch sites along the river, as well as new and improved launch sites.
